The couple running this farm is so sweet. The road is narrow and the shop is not signposted or displayed. They sell the fruit and a variety of jams.

Just ask for cassis and everyone will immediately know where to point you to! Don’t worry, the owners are the nicest people ever! They were so kind to show us around as well.

Was looking for some special organic fruits from the area, and stumbled upon this cassis farm in a relatively out of the way area while driving out of Oirase. Turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of the trip.

Yukiko-san and her husband were the kindest people and showed us around their cassis farm. We tried their cassis (with huge focus on no pesticides, no additives) and it reminded me of the cassis aromas from the times I studied wine and went through the blackcurrant aromas from Le Nuz. Felt special to be trying cassis in Japan, instead of Europe.

The next time I return to Tohoku, this will definitely be the place I will want to return to.
